Starving Child in Gaza

Nazi Concentration Camp Survivor
I have known several Jewish survivors of Nazi concentration camps. I saw their tattoos, listened to their stories, learned from them.
They would be appalled to learn their government is killing by starvation Palestinians or any group; because they experienced themselves, and saw many of their friends and loved ones die of, starvation at the hands of the Nazis.
Today Israel has created the equivalent of a vast closed ghetto in Gaza. People are trapped and being starved to death. Just as the Nazis did to the Jews. Roughly 50,000 children have died already in Gaza, and there are more 1,000,000 children starving now.
The Nazis killed an estimated 1.5 million Jewish children. Israel is on track to kill nearly as many children as the Nazis.
Killing hundreds of thousands, or starving to death millions of innocents (children and adults) to force a criminal group to release hostages makes little sense. Criminal groups simply do not care about the people they prey on. Even if it could work, Israel is creating hatred in the innocent people it is unjustly hurting. Consider the hatred Jews felt for the Nazis after the war. This is the legacy Israel is creating for itself.
Perhaps the real motivation is that Israel simply wants the land. Killing off its inhabitants as if obeying an Old Testament commandment from God, and using the excuse of recovering hostages as a pretext. If so, is the moral and humanitarian cost worth it to Israel, or the to the United States which enables it? Israel, and the United States along with it, risks being categorized morally with other countries who willingly allow millions to die to accomplish their goals. Countries like Russia, China, North Korea and even Nazi Germany.
Today, most of the Holocaust survivors are gone. Their moral influence faded. While a sizable number of Israelis oppose what their government is doing, their opinions are actively suppressed by a powerful minority.
In America, many Jewish people (probably the majority) are deeply upset about what is happening, but are afraid to speak out for fear of being ostracized from their community – while those who are not Jewish and protest are labeled anti-Semitic, and jailed or deported if they are not citizens.
The ideals of the United States as I have understood them include compassion for the weak, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Do the actions of Israel in Gaza align with those? If not, why does the United States support those actions?
Helping to starve to death an entire population of millions of helpless people should be sickening to those in power in the United States – should be sickening to everyone.
The only answer is for those of us who still do believe in the ideals of the United States to speak out, and voice our opinions strongly enough to be heard by those in power. And for those in power to re-evaluate their actions, and consider the pain they are causing and the legacy they are creating.
